We currently alternate our meetings between in-person and Zoom. Our in person only meetings are every odd month (January, March, May, July, September and November) and are held at The Outhouse, 12A Broughton Street Lane, Edinburgh EH1 3LY. The Zoom only meetings are every even month (February, April, June, August, October and December). Please check each month’s listing to double check whether the meeting is in-person or via Zoom. Legendary poet / writer Michael Pederson joined us for a Book Group special meeting on 25th February 2026 to chat all things ‘Muckle Flugga’. It was a fab evening and thank to Michael for agreeing to do this!

Book Group is now 15!
At our May 2024 meeting the Book Group celebrated its 15th birthday and we had a cake too! Since 2009 we’ve read over 175 books, and we’ve only selected two books to be read twice. See if you can work which two titles they are from our reading list (see below)!:
BBC Scotland’s Big Scottish Book Group
Some members of the Book Group took part in discussion for BBC Scotland’s ‘Big Scottish Book Group’ which was transmitted on the BBC Scotland channel on Sunday 6th November 2022 and is available on the BBC iPlayer. We were pleased to be on the same show as Armistead Maupin!

Back at our July 2021 meeting we were delighted to welcome 2020 Booker Prize winner Douglas Stuart to the meeting for an exclusive chat about ‘Shuggie Bain’. It was a wonderful evening and the highlight of our summers. We hope to have more author visits in coming months.
